Collection of Photos from Ian 'Hamish' Hamilton

Ian (Hamish) Hamilton served with the Squadron at Shoeburyness in Essex and has sent in a small collection of photographs taken at Horseshoe Barracks and on Exercise in Germany. Can you help us identify the missing names. Hamish has promised to send in more photos so keep watching this space.

111 (Dragon) Battery's Famous Cannon

Dragon Battery was founded as G Company, the Madras Foot Artillery in 1806. In 1840 it took part in the First China War and in recognition of its service was awarded the honour title "Dragon". It was during this conflict that the Battery captured the Chinese Dragon Cannon.

Here the Cannon is on display outside the Guardroom at Horseshoe Barrack. A brief history of the Battery and how it aquired the cannon can be found on the 36 Heavy AD Regiment Website.
